Projects* by Carlo Sampaolesi in cooperation with ICTUS ENSEMBLE, Bruxelles

Project 2025*
During the residency in Brussels with Jacopo Cenni, in collaboration with ICTUS Ensemble, an innovative mechanical and electronic system for activating the accordion’s reed blocks was developed, integrating fans and Arduino-controlled sensors. The project resulted in the creation of a 30-minute piece for accordion and an “extended reed-block ecosystem,” exploring the interaction between acoustic sound and mechanized resonance, with both live and fixed-electronics versions.

Project 2024*
The residency with violist Victor Guaita Igual at ICTUS Ensemble investigated memory as a compositional technique, through guided improvisation sessions, open scores, and performative experiments. The work culminated in a score encapsulating the intentions and objectives of the practice, with a methodology applicable to various instruments in solo and/or chamber music settings.
